FAQs
What is your style?
As with my fine art photography and documentary work, I look for unique perspectives that are natural, real, and timeless. I shoot with the intention of making photographs that will be cherished and passed on for generations. My technique often involve “disappearing” from a scene to become a quiet observer and find the moments and connections that are authentic reflections of people and places.
Creating portraits should be a fun and collaborative experience. While we will guide you every step of the way during your shoot (what do I do with my hands?!), we’ve learned that capturing great photographs takes more than poses. It takes fostering a relationship that extends beyond the lens, and we feel honored to share the experience of preserving your moment.
Where are you located? Do you travel?
We’re currently based out of Decatur, GA. Our networks and connections in Maryland, Nashville, Charleston and San Diego also make us readily available in those ares. And as travelers with well-worn passports, I’m always ready to go anywhere!
What are your rates and packages?
Investing in photography is an exciting decision to capture irreplaceable memories for yourselves, your family, and your future. An overview of our photography pricing for portraits and weddings can be found here. Keep in mind that package details can be flexible; we’d love to help you to decide the best option for you!
Weddings
How do I reserve the date of my portraits or wedding?
Booking is easily done via email or in person. Simply message me here or give me a call. Your date is saved once we receive a copy of the signed contract and a non-refundable retainer (30% of total). During the busy wedding months, we receive multiple inquiries. Please note that the date remains open until your signed contract and retainer is received.
Can we meet before the wedding?
Of course! I would love to get to know you, learn more about you and yours, and share examples of my work. I’m often available in the Atlanta area but I travel to Maryland regularly. At the same time, if you’re across the country or across the globe it's never a problem if I’m not in your area; many couples have booked without first meeting in person. I’m always available to talk via phone or video chat!
What should I consider when planning the big day?
Typically, we recommend setting aside at least 30-40 minutes on your wedding day for couples portraits and an additional 20-30 minutes for portraits of the wedding party and family. Taking a quiet moment to pause from the excitement of your wedding day allows us to capture beautiful photographs as a couple for your collection! We’re super flexible as well and can comfortably change plans to suit your needs throughout the day. Preparing to photograph your wedding day begins well in advance, and we look forward to discussing these aspects of the day throughout your planning. You'll also receive a "shot list" questionnaire before the wedding day to cover any details and help us outline any specific photography requests you have.
Do you have backup equipment and liability insurance? What happens if you have an emergency?
Absolutely! In addition to multiple backup camera bodies, we have a wide assortment of lenses (wide, telephoto, close-up, portrait, etc.), batteries, filters and more. We also have equipment and professional liability insurance which is sometimes a requirement of wedding venues.
In the unlikely event that we have an emergency, we will do everything possible to secure a replacement through our large network of talented professionals and association with professional organizations. In 15-years in professional photography we’ve never been unable to devote ourselves fully to a scheduled shoot.
How and when will I receive my photos?
All photographs are typically delivered 4-6 weeks after your wedding in digital format on a flash drive (typically 400-500 images). You'll also receive a private online link for viewing and sharing the collection and for purchasing prints. We’re both perfectionists with editing and post-processing and may require an additional 1-2 weeks during busy wedding months. We always try to deliver a "sneak peak" of 10-20 images soon after the wedding for you to have while we work on the full set of images.
Can we print photographs ourselves or share our images online?
We release full rights for personal use after final payment, allowing you to print photographs for friends and family with any online lab or at home. You can also share your images online.
Unless discussed, please note that this does not allow you to sell, edit or use the images in advertising in print or online. If you're interested in submitting to blogs or publications just let us know and we'd be glad to chat more!
Do you offer products?
Yes! We work with the best print companies in the industry to bring you beautiful books, canvas prints and fine art paper prints for preserving and sharing your photographs.
